On May 31, "Dongfanghong 3", a new type of deep-sea large-scale comprehensive scientific research practice ship of Ocean University of China, designed by 708 and built by Jiangnan Shipyard, left the dock of Jiangnan Shipyard for the scientific examination.Hangzhou Shallow-Sea Technology Co.,Ltd., as a leading domestic supplier of marine equipment/deck machinery and intelligent overall solutions, provides a complete set of scientific research deck support equipment services for "Dongfanghong 3".

Preliminary preparation for sea trial

In order to make full use of the time to successfully complete the acceptance test of the equipment and the training of the crew. The on-board technicians in Shallow-Sea Technology made careful and careful arrangements for a number of instruments and equipment on the "Dongfanghong 3". 

In this voyage, service engineers from Allied Crane Company and Markey Scientific Expedition Winch Company were invited to board the ship to be responsible for the acceptance and testing of the equipment, and to train and guide the operation of the crew. In addition, Tom, an engineer from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, was specially invited to guide the operation of JPC.

There are many types of equipment involved on the scientific research ship, and each equipment has its own operating procedures and precautions.Therefore, Shallow-Sea Technology engineers actively communicated and coordinated with the scientific expedition team members, carefully arranged the training plan of each equipment, explained the structural characteristics, functions, operation points and maintenance requirements of each equipment, so as to ensure that each crew member can quickly master the operation skills.

Seabed geological sampling

For marine scientific research ships, seabed geological sampling is one of the important scientific research tasks.With the joint efforts of all parties, the 9-meter gravity sampling and the 30-meter large-scale piston sampling were successfully completed. Among them, the 30-meter large-scale piston sampling successfully obtained a 23.6-meter columnar sediment sample.

Warm and salty deep water

Deep water extraction with temperature and salt is another important scientific research task in marine scientific research operations. In order to minimize the labor intensity of operators and improve the convenience of work. The two companies, Markey and Allied, completely centralized the control operations of winches and cranes on the same control panel and remote control, realizing the one-key retraction function of CTD water extraction. This move maximizes the automation and simplification of the operation and greatly facilitates the operation of the operator.

From 2015 to 2019, our company participated in the whole process of witnessing the growth of "Dongfanghong 3". In 2015, Qianhai Technology won the bid for the complete set of scientific research deck support equipment for "Dongfanghong 3", and immediately participated in the design optimization and construction process of Dongfanghong 3 ship. Actively communicate and coordinate with the tripartite units of Ocean University of China, 708 Institute and Jiangnan Shipyard, solve various problems encountered in the construction process as soon as possible, try our best to meet the needs of the shipowner for the use of equipment, and improve the experience of using the equipment. At the same time, it also actively put forward reasonable suggestions on the operation and use of scientific research equipment to the shipowner.

From May 31st to June 9th, during the ten-day intensive and orderly test, the Allied crane and the Markey winch successfully completed the trial voyage, which was highly recognized by the scientific research staff of Ocean University of China. To escort the "Dongfanghong 3" scientific expedition and create greater glories for my country's marine scientific expedition, Hangzhou Qianhai has been in action.
